Meet Your Instructor

My name is Ethan Ostermeyer, and helping others strengthen themselves has always been my passion. I discovered the power of fitness and nutrition at a young age, which led me into a career in strength and conditioning and eventually owning my own gym.

Over the past 20+ years, I’ve studied countless systems to protect and improve the body’s resiliency—but nothing has been more impactful than Functional Range Systems (FRS).

In 2014, I tore the labrum in my hip while squatting heavy. A respected sports doctor told me my days of athletic movement were over, and that I’d likely need a hip replacement within 10 years. I refused to accept that. While studying through Joe DeFranco and ONNIT Academy, I discovered Dr. Andreo Spina’s Functional Range Systems—and it changed everything.

This wasn’t typical “stretching.” FRS is science-backed, joint-specific training designed to restore and enhance function and control. Within months, I regained mobility, eliminated pain, and started building strength in my injured hip. Today, that same hip is stronger than ever—the doctor who wrote me off even wanted to run a case study.

In 2018, I was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and immediately saw how essential FRS was for grapplers. After training hundreds of athletes and applying this system for nearly a decade, I’ve seen it prevent injuries, eliminate pain, and help practitioners train longer and harder—without setbacks.

In 2023, I stepped away from my strength and conditioning gym to focus entirely on sharing this approach with the jiu-jitsu community. The BJJ Kinstretch Club is the next step in that mission.

Do I need to be flexible to start this?

Nope! This program is designed for people who are and aren’t naturally flexible. You’ll build mobility, control, and joint health from the ground up—no splits or pretzel poses required.

I’m already training BJJ several times a week. Will this be too much?

Not at all. The BJJ Kinstretch Club is designed to complement your jiu-jitsu training—not compete with it. The sessions are just two 30-minute follow-along workouts per week and can be done on non-training days or after class.

What equipment do I need?

All sessions are bodyweight only, all that is needed is a towel & chair or couch for leverage. As you progress, you’ll have the option of adding simple tools like bands for extra strength, but they’re never mandatory.

Are the sessions live or pre-recorded?

They’re pre-recorded and on-demand, so you can follow them anytime, from any device. Each week features two brand-new sessions—no repeats, ever.

What if I’ve had past injuries or joint pain?

This program is built with injury prevention and recovery in mind. Each session targets specific joints to restore mobility and control. Of course, if you have a serious or recent injury, you should get cleared by your doctor or physical therapist.
